The Music Man

This last weekend my parents played in the orchestra for Bothell High School's production of "The Music Man" which was really good. There's Dad in the back, you can see the focus and intensity in his eyes. Well not really....it's too dark for that, but since only the trombones are playing right now you can tell that this was a very important part of the show. And here's Mom!!! Just look at her a-fiddlin'!!! I was really proud of Mom for doing this cause she only plays her violin maybe once a year at Christmas, and most years, not even then (there are way too many yummy Christmas cookies to be made to have time for violins) :) Not only was this the first time in a long time she has played with a group, the music was very hard. So she practiced a lot!! And it was worth it. The violin section sounded great!!! Way to go Mom and Dad!!!

It was so fun to watch them play and be a part of something this big, especially for my mom. Dad plays in his band, The Moonlight Swing Orchestra, but they perform all the time, so I give my mom a giant "Hit that!!" for her hard work and dedication!! Good job Mom and Dad!!! I love you!!!

Wee-cation to Forks

My volleyball team had a tournament in Bremerton last weekend and that's about an hour and a half away from Forks, so Scott and I took a Wee-cation to Forks on Saturday. The weather was so beautiful and warm, perfect for the drive, but of course that meant we didn't see any vampires...here are some of the things we did see...I think my parents called this Lake Crescent. it was so pretty we stopped three or four times to take pictures and look at the scenery. But Forks was our goal so we pressed on....

We saw Bella's house and the high school and even had lunch with Bella and Edward...In the afternoon we went to First Beach and it was so pretty!!!It was such a fun day!!! The weather was perfect and it was fun to see things that I've been reading about for so long. Even Scott had a good time! haha

Free cupcakes!!

Tonight after our dinner (which was 10 bucks for both us thanks to a
super coupon) we went trophy cupcakes hoping to have their delicious
snickerdoodle cupcakes. As it turns out, snickerdoodle cupcake days
are only Monday and Friday so we a bit sad. But the girl told us since
we had driven all the way out there just for their amazing
snickerdoodle cupcakes, she would let us have our cupcakes for
free!!!!!! It made our night!!! Scott picked vanilla vanilla and I
had chocolate hazelnut. Soooooooo good!!!! These are the best
cupcakes I've ever had. And they tasted even better because they were
for freeeeee!!

A Christmas Carol

I was so happy to see everyone at A Christmas Carol in December! What a wonderful night!! The performance was held in a "theater in the round" which means the stage is in the middle of the theater and all the seats are around it. All the actors moved up and down the stairs and popped up from the floor, making for a very exciting show. Here are some pictures from before the show in the lobby.

Me with Grandma Anderson. Tonight was so much fun!! It reminded me of the times Grandma Anderson used to take us to the Nutcracker at Christmastime when we were little. Grandma A is pretty much the best person to go to the theater with cause she knows just about everything about going to the theater. :)

It's Christmastime!!! Yesterday we did one of my very favorite Christmas traditions, we got our Christmas Tree!!!! Our very first Christmas tree together!!! In the Anderson Family, we all go out to the wilderness (otherwise known as Arlington, WA) together and find the most perfect, beautiful tree out of all the contenders and cut it down to make it the Anderson Family Christmas Tree. It is quite an honor to be chosen and everyone always has a fun time being together and adding their input on which tree deserves that honor.

Word to the wise...keep a sharp eye on your candy cane when Gabriel is around!!

Mom finds her tree but, GASP, we forgot the words to the Anderson Family Christmas Tree Song. Dad was quick on his feet, literally, and made up a little dance we could do to appease the Christmas Tree Gods and ensure a green and fragrant tree all season long.

For Scott and I, the search c0ntinued a little deeper into the realms of Christmas Tree Land. We found the object of our desire and Scott quickly got to work cutting it down. Scott had a fun time cutting down his own Christmas tree for the very first time!!

Jason was full of the Christmas spirit as he helped us cut down our tree.

Victory is mine!!! Now that we have our tree, will get it home and decorate it beautifully!!!

The decorated tree. It's much more impressive in person, but I think it's just amazing!!! I love all my ornaments and I took pictures of some of my favorites...although there are too many to take pictures of all of my favorites...I guess that is what the full tree shot is for. :)

I love this glass angel, even though angels don't have wings...I still think it's beautiful. The lights make the angels' skirt glow and sparkle through the wings...oh how I love having a wonderfully decorated, amazingly fragrant Christmas tree in my house!!! It's the best part of the season!!!! Now it really feels like Christmas!!

The Sweet Taste of Victory

Even though it felt like it snuck up on us, this last Saturday was the annual Turkey Bowl Flag Football Tournament. After last year's debacle with the broken finger, I knew I had better make the most of this year's competition cause it could be my last. Here is my very cute nephew Gabriel, at one point he was holding 4 footballs in his arms. He also really liked playing with all the tackling equipment and knocking over the tackling dummies.

This year our name was North By Northwest. For most of our team, it was our fourth year playing together so we were pretty hungry for the title (we've come in 2nd, 3rd, and 5th). We played really well and had a good day. We only came up against one team we didn't beat, but no one else had even scored on them all day long and it was a really close game. We were pumped by that news and ready for revenge. We met up with them again in the finals and outscored them to win it all and take home the trophy.
I just need to take this opportunity to say how amazingly sweet it was to beat them. Everyone played a huge part on the team this year and we would have had a very different outcome without every member. Here's the crew celebrating our victory... ahh what a delicious moment. "We Are The Champions" playing over the speakers just for us. The tangible metal and plastic symbol of our victory in our hands, and the feeling of triumph that comes from hard work, dedication, and the strength to play through the pain.

As always, we couldn't have done it without our loyal fans!! Gabriel told his mom there was no way he could miss the Turkey Bowl and he had to be there to cheer us on. Dang straight!! (running on the field in the middle of the play to waste some time during our opponents last possession didn't hurt either...hehe. not that it was planned....just really good timing on his part.) And thanks to Scott who endured getting lost and the freezing cold to watch me play. And of course Mom came down to cheer us on, which meant a lot and Dad was with us in spirit even though he couldn't be there in person. He's getting better every day and should be out of the hospital soon!!! :D
Me and the Trophy. I just can't describe how amazed and excited I am that we won. All the years of being so close finally paid off. I didn't want to put the trophy down I was so happy to have it. It's going to rotate around for a little while so everyone gets a turn with it and then it will settle down with Troy (my brother and our captain) since he kept us going as a team.

I had said before the tournament started that I probably wouldn't play next year...i really am too old to be running around with those young'uns, so amidst the celebration I had to give my formal resignation from the sport. It was difficult but definitely needed to be done. Thanks for all your love, support, cheers....it was a great ride. :)

Listening to Elder Oaks

You can't really tell it's him in the picture, but Elder Oaks came to our stake for a special conference last Sunday. His talk was so amazing...lots of stuff to work on though. Scott and I did so well at getting up early and getting to the building in time to get seats. only one problem...wrong building. haha We ended up at the right building about a half hour early, but still every seat was taken...and most of the standing room. So i stood behind the back row and Scott scrounged up some chairs so we could all sit. Brian and Cathy came out to listen too. It was such a wonderful day...anyway that's the story behind the picture.

Hockey Night

Last night, my cousin and I went to cheer on our local hockey team, the Everett Silvertips. My boss' boss' boss had some extra tickets and told me they were first come, first serve. Amazingly enough, I got there first!! We had a lot of fun and learned a lot about hockey.

Hockey players like to confuse everyone by entering and leaving the ice whenever they want.
Hockey Fans are more violent then the players-there is nothing they won't do to encourage a good fight between players.
A blatant chop to the neck with your stick is not a foul.
Hockey can be stretched out like no other sport...not even football has anything on hockey. if there is 1.3 seconds on the clock expect that game to last for at least 10 more minutes.
Hockey players spend more time taking breaks then playing the game.

Those are just some of the things I learned last night. Here are some of the pictures I took:

Cousin and I chillin in our seats...we were right behind the goal about 6 rows back. We had a pretty good view of everything and feared for our life a few times when a shot towards the goal went astray. But they have nets and stuff up to protect you from that sort of thing.

Just some of the action packed night we enjoyed. The 'Tips, as they're known to the folks around here, came really close to making a spectacular comeback, but it was too little, too late. They ended up losing 3-4. Tough break for the Tips. It was a really fun night for us, but I feel bad for all those disappointed fans...not one real fight the entire night. It's ok...there's always next time!

Mariner's Game

For our "One-Year-As-A-Couple" Anniversary Scott surprised me with tickets to the Mariners game. We had amazing seats...2nd row from the field and right by the ball girl...not that it helped us score a foul ball...they always give those to little kids..LAME!!!
The Mariner's played so well, and the Oakland A's sucked it up, so we got to watch the M's soar to a 7-0 victory!!!

We had so much fun!!! Except when a foul ball came inches from hitting me in the head and then the 60-year old man behind us was trying to break my arm to get the ball. I told him I would get the ball for him since he couldn't reach it, but I guess he didn't believe me cause he started whacking my hand with his glove to keep me away from the ball. He was yelling, "It's my ball, don't touch it!! It's mine!!!" Real Mature, man. I didn't realize you could call dibs on foul balls. I doubt his system would hold up in a court of law.

Women in Black

On Saturday, Scott and I had the privilege to go to the Temple with our friends Janessa and Scott. It was such a wonderful experience and it really made me wanna give back, you know. At lunch time we found the perfect opportunity....

Women in Black. They stand for peace and justice (and frumpy black clothes). I know you are all dying to join (sorry guys....it's only for the girls, although they may join the silent vigil in numbers less then two) so check them out online at womeninblack.org. they are not yet on facebook, but Janessa has been working around the clock to reconcile this horrible oversite.

Labor Day in Long Beach, WA

In a rainy little town on the southern most tip of the Washington coast sits a happy little cabin about a half mile off the beach. Scott and I and our parents took a trip there for Labor Day Weekend. The weather really surprised us, sunny and warm with just a few rainy spots here and there. I'm not allowed to disclose all of the events that went on this weekend, it's strictly G-14 classified, but here are some of the things I can tell you about.

North Head Lighthouse:

After a short hike through a forest you come out on a cliff above the water. This cliff is where they built the light house back in the 1860s.

Our dream house. It's a little known secret that Scott has always wanted to live in a refurbished chicken coop. It needs a little work, and Scott can't fit through the door, but maybe someday...

oh yeah...we watched these surfers for a while...they must be freakin crazy. The water in this part of the Pacific Ocean is about 45 degrees. Even in a wet suit, that's cold.

Fort Columbia:

Good ole Fort Columbia. It was built to protect the Columbia River from intruders. Now it just has lots of cool stuff to climb on and dungeons to exlore. Oh, and I should mention, we did not put Brian and Cathy on photo restriction, although Brian might have liked the break ;), at the lighthouse. They arrived later in the afternoon and we went to the lighthouse in the morning.

Civil War Reenactment:

On Sunday we headed down to Fort Stevens in Oregon. We heard tell of a Civil War reenactment and thought we should check it out. The people who do this make it as athentic as possible. There were no BBQ's, or Coleman tents. Everyone dressed in period clothes, ate period food (minus the fish and chips van that snuck it's way in) and lived like people would have back in the day....Made me very grateful that I live in a time with running water, heat, washers and dryers...

I think this guy was new on the circuit cause it took him about 30 minutes to split that one piece of wood. By the time he was done with it, his fire was probably out. I wanted to go take it from him since he was obviously incapable of this task, but I left my hoop skirt and bonnet at home, so I just let him struggle.

The actual reenactment. The Union soldiers were brave and fought hard, but found it in their best interest to retreat and find their revenge another day.

Beard's Hollow & The Beach:

Here's a little candid shot of my handsome husband...Love you Scott!!! On Monday we took advantage of the weather by visiting a place called Beard's Hollow. There are huge rocks to climb on when the tide is out. We had a lot of fun taking pictures, climbing, and jumping. We didn't see any beards though, interestly enough.

Whenever it's nice out at Long Beach, you must take pictures or no one will believe you. The Lord really answered my prayers by giving us such beautiful weather while we were there.

Fun Times in Canada!

Last Saturday Scott and I headed north to Vancouver to have a little mini vacation. It started off a little slow since we had to spend over an hour at the border. It wouldn't have been a super big deal but there were only about 9 cars ahead of us. The long wait wasn't even for anything cool, like a search and seizure...just an overly chatty border guard. He did tell us about a cool fireworks show that would be going on while we were going to be there so that was nice of him. We took advantage of the beautiful weather by heading straight to Stanley Park, where we saw a Quidditch match!! Haha ok it's really cricket, but it was pretty entertaining to watch. I still don't know any of the rules, but this is what I gathered from our time watching. There are two beaters...haha i mean batters and the guy does the crazy pitch and the batter hits the croquet-like ball. The batters are in the middle of the circle shaped field and the fielders stand kinda where ever. I'm sure that is the technical sports term for it. when the batter hits the ball he does a funny half run half walk to the other side of the batting area while the other batter switches with him. No one catches the ball that's hit, they just pretend like they are going to and then duck out of the way. It's a hard ball...i would probably do the same thing too!! And there is a referee but he stands way out in the outfield and doesn't do much. That is cricket. don't bother verifying any facts as I'm sure I have it all here.

We spent lots of time enjoyiong the sun and pretty park. The park was so beautiful, but so crowded cause that's where the fireworks show was going to be that night. Here are some pictures from the park.

I'm not sure what this guy was trying to pull...but it seems like an odd combo...are you from Hawaii? Or Montana? Let's get this straight, buddy.

So after Quidditch, we went into the city to go to all the fun gadgety places that Scott loves. We went to a huge movie/video game/music store and bought Wayne's World AND Wayne's World 2 on the same disk!!! Odd decision, you say?? Not at all!!! Party Time! Excellent! We spend the rest of the trip wishing we had a licorice dispenser in the roof of the car. haha

We took a few pictures of things in the city...I think Scott's favorite part was seeing this...

I love this beautifiul little church. Its right in the middle of Downtown Vancouver surrounded by dozens of huge skyscrapers. The contrast of the church vs the other buildings is really neat. We had a few minutes so I got to take some pictures of it.

After dinner at Shabusen...so yummy (all you can eat Sushi and probably one of Scott's favorite places in all the world), we headed back into the city to find a primo location for this fireworks show we had been anticipating all day. We found a really cute neighborhood on the top of a hill overlooking the bay where the fireworks would go off. The houses were so beautiful and charming...all with different personalities that just made the neighborhood look incredible. They had little storybook type cottages next to Meditteranean Style houses, but it blended together so well. Here are some pictures from the neighborhood....

This house was so charming...and the roof is incredible...so whimsical and so much work!! It is still in the process of being renovated, but I'm sure it will look spectacular when it's done.

This was my favorite house. I probably took about 20 pictures of it trying to get everything. I just loved the little window at the top with the Juliet balcony.

Just after the sunset, the fireworks show started. This show was the grand finale of a week long fireworks competition between about a dozen different countries. The country doing the grand finale was China, and I wondered...China makes most of the fireworks, don't they automatically win anyway?? I mean just for showing up....Hey, we're here...I see you already have the fireworks we made for you...why don't we just head on home with the trophy now, and save you all a lot of embarressment. Just something to think about...

The fireworks show ended about 10:30 or so, and we knew every hotel room in the area was booked...we had already tried, so we headed back to the border. Just out of Vancouver we decided to get off the freeway and try a few hotels so we were not getting home at 4am. To our amazement, the lady at the second hotel we stopped at told us she just had a cancellation. About 2 seconds after the lady swiped my card, another traveller came into the lobby checking for any rooms. The girl behind the desk told her I had gotten the last one and it took all my strength not to use my best Stewie voice and shout, "Victory is mine!!" But, I knew just how that lady felt so I didn't.

After a good night's rest, a little more shopping and sightseeing, we headed home. The End.

Stephan on the town

Some of you may know a funny little guy named Stephan. He's a bit of a nomadic fellow so we don't see him very often, but every now and then he pops up. Stephan has been staying with Scott and I and has been exceptionally good lately so we decided he should get a reward. We let him out and wouldn't you know it, he just gets into trouble....here's what he was up to this weekend...

High stakes 3 card monty...he lost a lot of money on this one...
He tried to get some of that money back by selling Scott's watch. Luckily he was unsuccessful.He found his way into the local bar and ordered a bottle of their good stuff. When the bar tender found out he didn't have any money, he tossed Stephan out on his duff where he ran into an old flame.
Things were going great until Lovina found out Stephan lost all his money gambling. She sent him packing and now he was all alone in the big city, out of money and without a way home. In one last ditch effort to raise some bus fair home, Stephan gets hold of a ukelele and begins to play. He quickly raises enough change for bus fair, but Stephan isn't content with ending his weekend with a bus ride home, he wanted to ride in style. Stehpan sees a car he wouldn't mind borrowing....
Stehpan is not quite as good as Russ at evading the police and eventually they end his joy ride. After a night in jail, he finally gets his phone call.
Well, Stephan has lost his priviliges for a while. Scott and I are discussing military school to help straighten him out. Please keep him in your prayers.

Work Bridal Shower

Last Thursday the ladies at my work threw me a bridal shower. I had so much fun!! Who can resist being showered with presents...and I got to cheat on my diet!! I don't think I can even pick a best part...It was all wonderful. The food was delicious and the game was so much fun!!! The lei was because our honeymoon is in Hawaii and it smelled HEAVENLY!!! it was made out of orchids and tubarose (i probably didnt' spell that right, sorry) I called the florist right after the shower and had her add it to the bouquet. :D

Everyone hanging out and enjoying the weather...it was like 90 out that day. We played a really fun game that was similar to a mad lib. the Hostess, Heather...in the blue shirt, asked me before hand for the story of how Scott and I met, how he proposed and our plans for after the marriage. Then she wrote a little story to go with it. At the shower she brought out a tray with about 20 household products on it and gave us time to memorize everything. Then she gave us the stories and we had to fill in the blanks in the story with the names of the products she had shown us. I would have thought it was a super fun game, even if I hadn't won! haha :D

After we ate and talked and played it was time for presents....YAY!!! haha They were so sweet to do all this for me and I'm grateful for all of my neat stuff...I don't think they've seen someone so excited over vacuum in a long time!! We also had a most delicious lemon cake....it was so good, tart and sweet at the same time!!

And of course, every bride has to save the ribbon for her rehearsal bouquet...We shook things up a bit by making a very fine hat.

I especially liked the little trail of ribbon down the back...like a wedding mullet if you will...business in the front, party in the back. I don't know if the hat will make it to the rehearsal (i really hope it doesn't...one picture with that thing is all a person needs in their entire life!!!) but it was fun while it lasted. It was a bit surreal to be at a shower for my own wedding...where did the time go? I get more excited every day and I can't wait to be married to Scott!!!

Memorial Day

What a beautiful weekend!!! It was sunny and gorgeous all weekend long!!! (a miraculous feat in our neck of the woods) we had trouble deciding what to do yesterday. We finally decided on a trip to Snoqualmie Falls. The falls are near a quaint old railroad town just before you head through the pass on your way to Eastern Washington. Cathy, Brian, Scott, and I had lots of fun walking through the town, getting ice cream and ridin the rails out to the falls. On our way home we stopped by the outlets at North Bend...definitely Cathy's favorite part cause there was a coach store. :) We ended the whole day with a BBQ and movies with my parents. What a super fun weekend!!!

Our Fun Fun Weekend!!

It's always a fantastic treat in Washington when you have something really great planned and the weather cooperates!! Saturday morning Scott, Cathy, Brian and I headed up to Burlington through the unforgiving rain to take part in the Tulip Road Rally. The beginning of the race was cold and wet, but it didn't take long for it to clear up and become a beautiful, sunny day. Brian and Cathy took the Vette and Scott and I went in his GTI. It was supposed to be a race, but after our negligent navigator missed the very first turn, we decided to make it more of a scenic drive. We went past the tulip fields, through LaConner, over Deception Pass, stopped for ice cream in Coupeville, and saw hundreds of amazing cars. What a fun fun weekend!!!

This weekend was jam packed full of adventure with a volleyball tournament, Easter and pre-celebration of your's truly's 27th B-Day. I love my new purse and wallet!!!! They are beautiful! It's been a wonderful birthday so far...my next present is going to be the end of tax season! HURRAY!!!! three days and counting!!!

January 1, 2009 was the big night!! Under the light of fireworks from the Space Needle, Scott proposed. It couldn't have been more perfect!!! Thanks so much to our friends who helped out!!! A Merry Christmas to All!!!

Washington is covered in snow like nothing I have ever seen. In the Spirit of Christmas, we decided a full scale snow assualt was necessary...

You'd think being the girlfriend, Scott would give me some advantage...but that was definitely not the case...While I got in a few good shots of my own the battle was clearly won by Scott. oh look...here I am recovering from a whitewash--->
that put me out of commission due to laughter for quite a while...after that i never really had a chance.

We called a truce for a brief moment to snap a picture and then it was back to the battle ground.... This was one of the most fun things we've done and i'm sure it will be a happy topic for many Christmases to come. I love you, Scott!

Thanksgiving has been fun, it was just the 4 of us this year, Russ and Debbie are down in California and Carly's family is down in Olympia. We have just been takin it easy all day, watchin Christmas movies, and of course eating turkey!! :) Now were all in a stuper from the food... Happy Thanksgiving!!

So I'm sitting in Math class (blogging for some reason...) just
thinking how much I hate math... I fully comprehend why we all need
certain types of math in our lives, but other more complex types I
don't know why we all need to know them and not just the people who
plan to use these types... That's my complaint for the day...

We went to Vancouver for the day, it was a lot of fun. We went all over the place. Here are some of the pics...

We went to the Vancouver Aquarium, it was a blast. It rained a ton while we were there.... But it was still fun.

We drove up to Whistler Blackhomb Ski Resort, it was a crazy drive... We almost died several times and saw lots of cars flipped on the sides of the roads... They don't know how to setup contruction traffic in Canada... The town was way cool, it would be a lot better if it wasn't raining but we still had a fun time.

and the nice old man gave us 2 free tickets when we told him. It was

Just got the front end of my car customized a bit. I had pin stripes
